travel

I've been fantasising about travel alot lately.
I think I'm going to try save hard over summer... Venice, Berlin, Dresden, Paris, New York...it's all calling to me.
I've been reading newyorkdailyphoto.blogspot.com
These things just aren't good to taunt yourself with when you have no money!

I wonder what my story will be like when I finally get to go overseas.

... an overdue update.

I have tried to write this post a few times already, but it all seems to be coming out jumbled and incoherent! I think it's because I'm tired. SO... apologies in advance.

There are four weeks left of uni until the end of this semester.
I am in good spirits and am loving being back in Richmond. And yes- the move went really well. My roommates are very nice and I'm having a good time- the only downfall is not having the net- I spent an hour today just catching up on all of my favourite blogs! Wow- everyone seems to have had much fun, there has been a lot of news, good and bad, that I have missed.

Weight-wise I have been maintaining- which I'm pretty happy with after a rather festive Grand Final celebration. I have also successfully avoided those breast cancer foundation tim tams I've seen floating around the supermarket...

I look forward to commenting on all your blogs and hope everyone is feeling and doing well. All the blue skies and sunshine has been lovely, and I hope everyone has been making the most of it!

More news and thoughts, more coherently worded, soon....

whirlwind week!

What another huge week that's flown by already!
I didn't end up seeing Placebo on Friday night, but Monday night more than made up for that when I saw The Dresden Dolls. I can't recommend enough just how fantastic they were- an alternative punk/caberet act, they played an impressive set full of raw passion and emotion.

The lead singer Amanda has this gutsy, throaty big voice and alternates between pounding at the piano like a sledgehammer, and delicate tinklings on the high keys. The Drummer also threw himself into the music, and both were gracious and commanding entertainers.
The support acts were all incredible, also- a brilliant, entertaining (think Jack Sparrow) American performer singing Pirate-inspired sing-a-long type songs. There was also a sword swallower, followed by the brilliant Geelong group The Red Paintings who I've seen before and are incredible also. Most of The Red Paintings don a white face and full Geisha costume, their music is intimate and full of electric guitars and violins. They perform to an amazing backdrop of edited old B&W video, and every performance have canvases set up and people are encouraged to get up and paint to the music.

Phew- between those performances, a family engagement on Saturday night, too many drinks on Friday night- the week has just flown by.

And yes- Tomorrow is the day that i move.
It's been exciting, and really one of those count-down things for me. I can't wait to be back in the city-life. A close friend of mine is also house-sitting on Gertrude st. for a few weeks. It's just off brunswick street, not far from my new place. It's going to be a ball hanging out and we will definitely be having a few more dinners at vegie-bar together.

Weight wise... well. Weight wise.... *whistles*
Gained 200 grams, to be at 78.2- but, to tell you the truth, I am WRAPPED... Between all those engagements I knew I couldn't get off scott-free, and I've been trying my best meanwhile. I'm very pleased I can say this with conviction: the journey continues! Life must fit in with this life-style.

Otherwise... today is packing, packing, packing.
Cross your fingers for me for tomorrow, eh- weather wise. I'm hoping it'll all go smoothly.

Time to go- thanks for listening and all your lovely comments.

Time is moving fast! (warning : long post)

Wow! Another week already. So much to do, so many things already done and behind me in the past week!

To start: only 8 days until I move to Richmond.
I have organised an earlier move-in date, my lovely Mum will be helping me.
Crossing fingers it's not too painful; I've had enough moves to know to be organised in my packing, and try to cull back the stuff I don't need with each move. Mum will be taking home a looot of stuff I simply haven't needed to use in the last 12 months. If anyone has any moving tips, please share! I would love to hear!

I also have two assignments due on Friday, and another on Monday. Will be working hard on those.
This Friday night I may be seeing a Placebo concert- my lovely cousin Bec's friend is unsure if she'll make it, due to a later-scheduled international flight she will be returning on in the avo (from Italy, for work I might add! Lucky thing!)
I told my cousin I would be thrilled either way, and it makes sense (obviously) to not waste the ticket.

The past week has been a flurry of work, school, homework and social engagements. Yes, I have been drinking too much again. The pleasant news, however, is that I've still managed to lose 400 grams this week and do all this:

1.Friday night I was coaxed, prodded and caved in to ignore my homework and drink up the special friday bar prices at All Nations on Spencer St... Me and my gorgeous friends enjoyed $1 champagne and raspberry from 5 until 7- at which point, the champagne was then -free-.....returning to $1 each glass again after 9. I'm not sure why I'm mentioning the glass prices, as us thirsty and economical lot usually just start with -bottles- for $5 a pop....And no, it doesn't taste too bad at all! After that, we mosied down to Crown to enjoy some post-drink nibblies... I ordered some bruschetta without the oil, and downed a lot of water to hydrate myself. On the way home I could not restrain myself from buying an ice-cream in a waffle cone!

Saturday was working in the city- Saturday night was having a few cocktails in a beautiful apartment in Footscray with some girlfriends. They were all going out together, but I was going home for an early night to do homework all Sunday.
Sun/Mon was all homework, Tuesday I went to Dimmies and found a brilliant skirt for only $10! It's white with an aqua design, and a little bright blue border on the bottom. It's pleated and looks so cute!

Tuesday avo I went for a coffee with another lovely friend. We work together and have since developed a friendship, we love catching up for a coffee on Degraves street before work. She's incredibly talented, a photography student. Her photographs are just brilliant and she continues to get better all the time. She usually orders a tea or a beer depending on how she feels- yesterday she had a lemon lime & bitters, which I agree to be a very refreshing drink! I had a JUMBO coffee in a mug that challenged the size of my head! It was only $3.50 and cheaper than ordering two. We both laughed at it's ridiculous size and she took a photo.

I then walked from Degraves through the city to Collingwood, where I met my beautiful friend Kate at her work. On the way I bought her a cheap bunch of flowers that they packaged beautifully. We walked to Brunswick street in Fitzroy and had the best vegetarian dinner at 'Vegie Bar'- this trendy, awesome and cheap vegie restaurant where the food is creative, delicious, in large amounts, at an affordable price.
I had steamed tofu and veggies with shoots and a side of satay sauce ($10.50). I enjoyed it with a delicious glass of house red- for only $4.50 (!). All up, was an amazing meal & drink for only $15... we looked at the cake, but were too full anyway.

We then mosied down to a local bohemian-looking bar, settled into some comfy armchair streets. Little tea-light candles were placed along the window, where we enjoyed this view as we sipped on our last drinks for the night:

(of course, it was dark and night-time obviously... but you get the picture?)
We caught the tram to Parliament, said our good-byes and headed home!

Now, for the rest of the week- I plan on getting a whole lot of homework done for the rest of today and tomorrow, full day of school on Friday, working on Saturday, a family 50'th in Geelong on Saturday night, school/an assignment due in on Monday...

I will be seeing the Dresden Dolls on Monday Night at the corner with all of my closest friends. I'm so excited, and it will be so much fun seeing them! Some very special friends are coming up from Geelong, so it will be brilliant going out with them in Melbourne also.

Then- Mon, Tues, Wed is packing.. Thursday is the big move. Friday is the last day of school before the Mid-semester break.

I guess you can see why I titled my post- "Time is moving fast"-- it sure is at the moment.

Anyway- I'm sorry to drag you through the events of my week/coming week, but I as you can see I am a very busy little bee indeed. I have been having fun, I'm losing weight slowly, but I'm keeping my eye on things. I'm happy with that.

I hope that everyone else out there are doing well on their own journeys- my thoughts are with beautiful Rae at the moment. She has done so well, looks so lovely, and is facing a few 'life' hurdles at the moment- but good on you Rae for having the courage to post your thoughts. I know you have the strength to tackle what comes your way, and all the best on your own journey at the moment. Everyone go to http://alittleraeofsunshine.blogspot.com and leave a word of encouragement for her.

Otherwise, thanks for your beautiful comments- I browse everyones blogs all the time, but don't always have time to comment.

Have a great week!

maintained

On the weigh-in front, after a bit of a splurgey mothers birthday (went well, thankyou very much) and fathers day, Stepped on the scales today to read 78.4 kg- no change. I'm definitely feeling cool will that, as I was steeling myself up for a gain.

I will forge forward- full steam ahead- and hoping to have a healthy week ahead. Things will be heating up with work/uni & assignments, so will just have to buckle down and motor through it!

In other news- 18 days until I move to Richmond! Yipee!
I am looking forward to this *so much*- It is a share house, and I had the pleasure of meeting the only other girl in the house, Kate, on Tuesday night for the first time. She seemed really lovely- everyone seems very nice, and I admit I have been eyeing the latest ikea catalogue like a school-girl with a crush...

In other news, I have beenchained to the computer of late, as I've been watching downloaded episodes of 'The L Word'. It's sort of a lesbian Sex and the City. With melodramatic affairs, glamour, drama & focus on the ins and outs of relationships, I'm totally hooked! It really pushes the envelope and is so fun to watch if- like me- you can't stand those real crime/reality shows and just wanna hook into some well-written character development.

Hoping everyone has had a good week, and will leave you with some lovely photos of Richmond.. in the past, and in the present.

well here comes change!

Firstly- a HUGE woohoo... to losing 1.1 kg this week :)
It's a very good feeling looking at my ticker and seeing I only have 1.9 kg to go until I'm down to 76.5 kg. It feels great watching those numbers go down- especially when I know it is only these last 8 kilos that I need to shift before I start feeling so much lighter and leaner.

And even better news: I have decided to move. I am so excited as I am moving back to Richmond- my most favourite suburb in the whole of melbourne. It is so close to everything, and I am beyond ecstatic to know it's only a hop skip and jump to the tan, the mcg, and walks along the yarra. The room itself is quite a shoebox- but it's cheap rent, and it'll be -my- shoebox.. haha :) It's been 2 years since I last lived in Richmond and I've missed it beyond belief. Great cafes, great shopping, great pubs, great vibe. A 5 minute tram to the city.

SIGH!
Very happy, but I know the stress will be absolutely on me contending with moving and school... but finally, I really feel like it's a step forward in the direction I want to go. I really do.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments, It means heaps to have my little outlet here where I can share my thoughts. Consider yourselves my motivation-circle as I dare not babble on about boring weight-loss stuff to friends! It gets repetitive and rather indulgent after a while, so I am glad blogger is such an easygoing listener... ;)

Well good luck guys, here's to shooting down another week!
Did I mention there's only 7 weeks of uni to go this year?...= A W E S O M E.....

some pics from the other night :)

At the start of the holidays I chopped pretty much all my hair off, so I thought I'd share some pictures of it.

I had previously bleached black out of it, so it was in pretty rough shape, and had gotten fairly long. During the uni semester I try not cut my hair too much as it's quite expensive! I was going to take the plunge and get a Kylie Minogue/Jessica Rowe length style, but ended up having a little bit of fringe/side bits and the rest very shortly cropped. It's grown a lot since then, and the front bits are starting to get down to chin-length.
It was a bit of a shock at first but friends really loved it which made me feel better.

As I mentioned, it was a sort of reddish-blonde previously, so I put a chocolate dye through it.. and only just recently a red rinse. I'm pretty happy as it's gotten much healthier, and I won't mind having short hair during summer, that's for sure!

No other news except lots of boring homework! I've been eating well, & feeling happy.
I've cancelled my gym membership as I'm enjoying walking outside in the sun much more at the moment.

IT'S FOURTEEN WEEKS TIL SUMMER, GUYS!

How scary is that?
Anyway- gotta get off my bum and do some homework... take care!
x Kristy

P.S. good on you Rae for the WW photoshoot, what a star!
